In my effort to drink more water, and get away from having any sugary drinks, I have found that making infused waters really helps keep me motivated to drink more.
I tend to keep a lemon and a lime sliced in a little tupperware container in the fridge for added to water, but today when we had some leftover watermelon (and I was tired of spending hours picking out the seeds so my kids would actually eat it) I thought I’d try a different combination.
Watermelon is just packed with health benefits. It contains nutrients, citrulline and arginine, citrulline has been shown to boost heart health, the immune system and help with weight loss / type 2 diabetes and arginine can help to relax blood vessels, treat / prevent erectile dysfunction and remove toxins from the body.
Watermelon also has high levels of vitamin A and C, which help prevent infections and boost the immune system. It is also a good source of Thiamin, Potassium and Magnesium which protect our body from many
The mint isn’t just for flavour either, mint has been known to aid digestion and prevent stomach cramps / nausea.
This would be such a gorgeous summer drink on a hot day, I can’t wait to be able to sit outside and drink this on the patio! You could even freeze the cubes of watermelon to add as ice cubes and keep your drink extra cold 🙂
Do you add anything to your water, any other infusion ideas I should try?
