We have gone much more low key with birthdays over the past few years and I find we enjoy everything so much more when we don’t plan too much and get overwhelmed!
We’ve had a lovely few hours in the park with friends today before heading home for a family birthday buffet chosen by Caitlyn which, if i’m honest, was 90% beige and 10% sweets 😂 but if you can’t live off sandwiches, crisps, sausage rolls, cake and sweets on your birthday then when can you? 👍🏻
Gift wise, we try and buy mostly secondhand and this year we bought Caitlyn her first Sylvanian families (used via Facebook) to go with a wooden dolls house the girls got last xmas, some Dr Seuss books (used from car boot) as she loves them, a whittling knife (new) cos they are forever using my kitchen knives on sticks 😂 and a flower press (charity shop). Also (unpictured cos they were already wrapped) we got her some Harry Potter Lego minifigures she wanted (again via ebay), my girls play Harry Potter for houuuurs at the moment.
Do you ever buy secondhand gifts? We only used to do it for us (my mum would DIE at receiving a secondhand gift 😂😂) but with quite a few likeminded friends we just buy secondhand gifts for each others kids now, or the kids want to choose something they own to gift their friends a little something. I love it when you can have all the fun with less stuff/ waste / stress 👌 L x
